Contracted by LADOTD, C.E.C., Inc. was tasked with the replacement of joints without compromising continual flow of traffic or the structure’s support.

The project included:

• Remove existing joints
• Break out concrete around the existing joints
• Cut rebar as necessary and remove the joint from the recess
• Prepare the area to take the new MBJS
• Install and set the new joint to the correct opening
• Secure in place in accordance with the Plans

The existing joint was removed in sections, while managing to install the new MBJS’s (modular bridge joint system).
